to the reviewers

reviewers, please read this, because there is no reason why anyone who makes a flash movie should get a 0/10.
a 5/10 means its average, it does nothing well, or it does things well, and other things very poorly
a 10/10 has met all the expectations of a good flash
an 11/10 has exceeded those expectations
a 1/10 has done almost everything wrong and needs serious correction
but a 0/10
in order to get a 0, it has to NOT be a flash movie
thats like clicking "WATCH THIS MOVIE!" and nothing appears
that would be a 0, because its not a flash movie
here are some more examples of what would earn a 0/10
----------------------------
an actual movie
the blue screen of death
my left shoe
my RIGHT shoe
getting kicked in the nuts
etc.
----------------------------
so reviewers, when you're thinking, "that was the worst flash ever," just remember it was better than a kick in the nuts

Final Fantasy break
9/30/08 by Opiniotron
so yesterday, I picked up a gba for the first time in months and went back to play Final Fantasy 6, which only reminded me of how great that game was, and is :D
so heres my quick FF6 review, and why I may not be reviewing for awhile because I have that Final Fantasy fever lol
FF6 is a 2D rpg that has comedy, great~ story, 20 characters which gives a great ammount of party customization, some of THE best music in any final fantasy, and the action time battle system from the classic FF days :P
for a 2D game, the graphics are beautiful~ Its not like Super Mario Rpg 3D 2D, but the art is fantastic. The humor is around every corner, and so is the ammount of serious drama. This game has alot of serious side story, but they cover alot of it up with comic relief so you still love playing it. I don't want to ruin the story, but [kinda a spoiler if you've never played it] you actually LOSE in the game, before you can end up winning. The world gets destroyed lol, I love that concept. And with 20 characters, you get a thief, a samurai, monk, blue mage, and more, but one of the best parts is that they can all summon and use magic. None of that FF8 nonsense were you're only powerful with a GF equiped, you equip magicite in FF6 and learn the magic. Its permanent. There are tens of summons, I think around 30, and if you enjoyed the ATB system before, it's just as intense. What I think was so beautiful about this game though, is it was the only one that gave the random low health overdrive. In FF8 you can spam triangle until you get an overdrive, in FF6 you pray, and when it happens, it hills EVERYTHING xD
FF6 still blows my mind in how much it delivers. It delivers it all perfectly, and it always gives me more than I expect, but maybe thats just me
11/10
Of the Final Fantasy's, I really recommend to anyone to try FFX as well, and most I'd say should give FFXI a shot. FF11 isn't the greatest because every monster has a chance of killing you, but it makes it really~ challenging. FF11 pushs the teamwork theme. I use to play it alot, but eh, school takes up alot of time so, best of luck to you who still play :P
Final Fantasy has its flaws, like random battles, but thats also what can make it fun. It depends on your mood, and right now, I need some FF xD
dont forget about the classics :P have fun with new rpg's but dont forget the oldies

well unfortunately, I'm not always going to be on newgrounds to get to your comments or messages immediately, I'm a college student and have other things to do lol xD so it's nothing personal, I'm probably just alittle busy or the computer is freezing up. most times I check newgrounds from 7am-1pm on weekdays, and not too often on the weekend. sorry for the inconvenience

Experience? xD
9/24/08 by Opiniotron
so it seems, that my exp score even after reviewing more than 5 movies a day sometimes, does not move lol. I understand that leveling up only raises voting power, which I don't need, I'm just reviewing, but I find it odd that I just don't gain experience lol
I hope the reviews tell more than my level xD

Typos
9/23/08 by Opiniotron
a few times after writing a review, I see that I make a typo, or misheard a character's name (Bill *I said Phil* from Tankmen) so my apologies for the typos. guess I'm just to lazy to wanna do spell check xD
even with the grammatical errors, I try to give the review the fewest words but cover most of the information. Sorry for the errors, I'll try to be more cautious

What people think of my reviews
9/21/08 by Opiniotron
I've noticed a pattern here.
Typically, if I give a flash a bad review, people think my review was bad.
If you like the flash, thats fine, your opinion, but every flash should be able to be watched by anyone.
Therefore, my opinion on the movie, even if its negative criticism, should be read before you think "well he's just bashing out trash". I review to help the authors continue what they're doing, or notice that some people just don't appreciate the style.
Thanks for reading the reviews though, criticism doesn't just go one way

Quality Reviews
9/19/08 by Opiniotron
There's no way I'll be able to watch every single flash out there, so the ones I do watch, are either on the "best" wall, or a friend refers it to me, but that's the luck of the draw
If you want me to review your work, I'd be happy to, but be aware that you may get a bad review
I judge on overall quality and the situational context. If the animation is a comedy, then yes, I'll grade for humor, how the music, animation, and voices effect me. Or if its a serious dramatic movie, then I'll be focusing on if the point behind the movie came together in the end
Out of the ten points, heres my general grading
2 points for sound
2 points for animation
1 point for replay
now then, a 5/10 is an average movie. In order to get this, you do nothing spectacular.
To get a ten, you need these positive qualities:
voice actors
good sound, or no sound if it doesnt need it
the pictures must be clear
there MUST be movement
and I have to want to hit replay
each of these count as 1 point up from the 5
likewise, to get a one, you need these negative qualities:
bad voice actors, or acting
annoying sound
aweful picture representation
no movement
each of these likewise couting as a -1 from the 5
Hope that enlightens everyone on how I pull these reviews out of thin air.
Happy flashing, good luck
